One Night Special mit The Overtones im Potters Resort

Am 7. Juli 2013 hatte das Admin Team von The Overtones Germany das Vergnügen beim One Night Special mit The Overtones im Potters Leisure Resort (Hopton-on-Sea, England) dabei zu sein. Wir wurden bei unserer Ankunft herzlich vom Personal des Resorts in Empfang genommen. Schon beim Check-In traf man auf viele bekannte Gesichter und lernte einige neue Toner kennen, die alle gespannt dem Abend entgegenfieberten. Im Resort standen verschiedene Aktivitäten zur Verfügung um sich die Zeit bis zur Show zu vertreiben. Zuallererst wurde der Segway Parcours unsicher gemacht. Das schöne Wetter lud außerdem zu einem Strandspaziergang ein. Am Nachmittag wurde dann das angekündigte 5-Gänge-Menü serviert, dass man leider nicht in vollen Zügen genießen konnte, da der Auftritt der Overtones kurz bevorstand und die Aufregung zu groß war. Um 19:30 Uhr wurden die Gäste des Potters Leisure Resorts durch einen Seiteneingang vom Speisesaal ins Atlas Theatre geleitet, wo dann nach einstündiger Wartezeit Toni Warne, eine ehemalige The Voice UK Teilnehmerin und die Atlas Theatre Band die Stimmung anheizten. Sie sang unter anderem “The Circle of Life” aus dem Musical The Lion King, “On My Own” aus Les Misérables und ein Barbra Streisand Medley.

Um 21:30 Uhr war es dann endlich soweit und The Overtones betraten gut gelaunt die Bühne. Die Stimmung im Saal war von der ersten Minute an fantastisch und das gesamte Atlas Theatre brodelte. Die Jungs suchten den ständigen Kontakt zum Publikum und waren von den Outfits der Damen- und Herrenwelt begeistert. Auch dass The Overtones ohne ihre bei Konzerten üblichen Begleitmusiker auftraten, tat der Stimmung keinen Abbruch. Die Setlist bestand aus einer guten Mischung von Songs aus den beiden Alben “Good Ol’Fashioned Love” (bzw. Gambling Man in Deutschland) und “Higher”.

Im Anschluss an das Konzert fand auf der Bühne des Theaters ein Meet & Greet statt. Dort hatte jeder die Gelegenheit ein Foto mit der Band von einem professionellen Fotografen schießen zu lassen. Trotz ihres langen Tages nach einem Auftritt im Hyde Park am Vormittag und langer Anreise, versprühten die Jungs wie immer Charme und waren auch noch bis zum 135. Foto zu Späßen aufgelegt.
Alles in allem war der Tag ein voller Erfolg. Vielen Dank an das Team vom Potters Leisure Resort, insbesondere Michael Scott, dem Sales & Marketing Director, der für alle Fragen ein offenes Ohr und eine passende Antwort hatte! Wir kommen gerne wieder!

On July 7, 2013, the Admin Team of The Overtones Germany had the pleasure to join in for the One Night Special with The Overtones at Potters Leisure Resort (Hopton-on-Sea, England) . Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the very friendly and welcoming staff of the resort and immediately recognized and greeted by a lot of familiar faces from the Toner World, whom all could not wait for the show to start.

At the resort, we had lots of great activities to choose from which simply just made the time fly by and were so much fun – we have tried the Segway course, and the beautiful weather was just perfect for a relaxing walk on the beach.

In the afternoon, we were served a wonderful 5 course meal, which we unfortunately could not fully enjoy, as the performance of The Overtones was approaching already, and of course, everybody was simply too nervous and too excited.

At around 7:30pm, the guests of the Potters Leisure Resort were guided from the dining hall into the Atlas Theatre via a side entrance. After about an hour, Toni Warne, a former The Voice UK contestant, hit the stage and was accompanied by the Atlas Theatre Band – the audience was buzzing already! She sang, amongst other songs, “The Circle of Life” from the musical The Lion King, “On My Own” from Les Misérables and a Barbra Streisand Medley.

At 9:30pm, The Overtones finally hit the stage and the athmosphere in the venue was boiling right from the start. The boys were always looking for interactions with the people in the audience and were also apparently thrilled about the lots of gorgeous outfits by both the ladies and gentlemen. They did not have their usual backing band to accompany with them this time, but this did not derogate the spirit.

The set list was good mixture of songs from both albums “Good Ol’Fashioned Love” (“Gambling Man” in Germany) and “Higher”.

After the gig, there was a Meet & Greet on the stage of the theater. Everybody got the chance to get a professinal photo taken with the band. Despite them having a long day, after their gig at Hyde Park in the morning and a long drive to the resort, the boys were charming as always and were joking around until picture number 135.
